Cathkin Braes 5 Ranfurly Castle 4

Our last Greenlees match of the season was played yesterday at Cathkin in warm muggy conditions. Cathkin fielded a strong team but Ranfurly put up a good fight away from home and the very front and back of the team produced the points.
We remain in second place but await the results from other matches to confirm our final position.
An excellent buffet was enjoyed by the team after the match and friendly rivalry on the course developed into a good chat round the table.
MANY THANKS to all team players and reserves for their support throughout the season.

Anne Judge is the 2008 Ladies Club Champion

Anne Juadge and Anne Robinson - Click to enlarge
Congratulations go to Anne Judge who won her 2nd Club Championship title by beating Anne Robinson 3 and 2 in today's final.
In extremely tricky conditions -- swirling wind and difficult pin placements -- the 2 Anne's had a close and entertaining final.
Anne R sank her putt from just off the green at the 1st for a par to go one up.
The outward half was very close with par golf being the better ball - At the 9th -- All Square.
Anne J
won the 10th with a par and thereafter all the holes were halved until Anne J had a par 3 at the 14th to go 2 up. The 15th was halved and then Anne J lipped out for a birdie 3 at the 16th but was able to sink her putt to win the match 3 and 2

Greenlees Result -- Home win against Kilmarnock Barassie

The Greenlees team played against Kilmarnock Barassie today in their 2nd last game of the season and had a very good 7 - 2 victory. Our best player, Lesley Robertson was out at Number 1 which helps to move all the rest of the team down one - thus a good victory. Ranfurly Castle at this point are 2nd in the league to Troon who have definately won the 1st Division. However, with our last match next week aginst Cathkin Braes (Away) we will be trying our best to get the runners up slot.

Childrens Day Success

On Monday the sun shone all day for childrens day. 55 children played and enjoyed the day.
Thanks to Helen for organising it and to all the helpers.

Halden Cup - The Gents are the winners

On Sunday in mixed conditions the ladies lost to a powerful Gents team 4/8. Although there was heavy rain at the start it cleared up and we had no excuse except there was no run on the course and the men were always on the greens ahead of us !!!
We should have insisted they play off WHITE TEES.
The match was followed by lunch, speeches and some amusing anecdotes from the floor.
