LADIES ANNUAL DINNER 26 OCTOBER

A sheet has been put up in the Locker Room to sign up for the Ladies Annual Dinner, which will be held in the Clubhouse on Wednesday 26 October 2022. The cost is £25 per head and there are 3 choices for each of the three courses. Please indicate your choices on the sign-up sheet.

DAILY MAIL FOURSOMES QUALIFIER

Disappointingly, only 6 couples played in this foursomes competition on Wednesday 28 September.

Three of the couples tied on 33 pts (Note: as the Red Tees were used, the 9th is treated as a par 5 for stableford purposes).

The winners with the best inward half were Maureen Cook & Pamela MacKenzie.

LADIES BRIDGE AFTERNOON

On Tuesday 13th September we held the first Bridge afternoon since 2019.  It was lovely to see the club busy again after such a long time.  There were 10 tables of both gents and ladies and all enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea, supplied and served by the Ladies Committee.  A raffle raised £110 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.  The winner on the day was Cynthia Keanie, 2nd was Margaret Parrot and 3rd was Georgina Halfnight.  Thank you to all who made the afternoon such a success.

The final competition of the season will be the Final Swing on Wednesday 19 October 2022. A bounce game has been set up on the SG App for Wednesday 26 October (entries open 26 September in the usual way).

After that, your Ladies Match & Handicap team of Jan and Karen will be taking a welcome winter break from the VMS system. However, the popular ladies Wednesday bounce games will continue.

Pamela MacKenzie has kindly volunteered to be the draw organiser and will coordinate the games via email. Draws will be done a month at a time, starting for November 2022. To be included in the draws for November Wednesdays, please email Pamela at pamjohn2004@hotmail.com by 15 October 2022. (you can state which weeks you want to play). CAWDER OUTING

Thursday 8th September was our first golf outing for 2 years.  This became a very memorable date for another reason.  We were are all so sad to hear that the Queen was gravely ill when our round was finished, but that was nothing compared with the announcement given at 6.30 pm that the Queen had died.  What an amazing life of service she had given this country - even still working 2 days before she died.  We now look forward to the Reign of King Charles 111.

Back to the golf - winning team on the day was Helen Abram, Pat Pennel and Karen Binning with 48 points - well done!  Morag thought it would be nice to recognise the poor team finishing last - nice new wooden spoons for Anne Robinson, Julie Will and Kate Scott!

Just one final prize - not a silver trophy - for being lucky enough to end up in the most bunkers.  Congratulations Kate!

28 ladies had an enjoyable match for the historic Pooh Putter for the first time since 2019.

Traditionally the match is between the Lady Captains team and the Lady Vice Captains team. This year the players were drawn at random to play for either the Lady Captain or the Past Lady Captain.

The result was a resounding win for the Past Captains Team.

GREENLEES UPDATE

We must all thank the ladies who are playing on behalf of the club in this prestigious league.

Having been promoted to Div 1 after last years campaign, our team have battled hard in the matches against very strong opposition.

Recent results:

  • 22nd Aug Home match v Troon. Close result but Troon won 5 games to 4
  • 29th Aug Home match v Cathkin Braes. Cathkin Braes won 6 games to 3
One final match to play - a rearranged fixture against Loudon Gowf at home on 12th September

HANDICAP SCORES

Ladies, with autumn coming upon us and the last ladies' competitions of the season to be held over the next 6 weeks or so, a gentle reminder that you need to submit 4 scores this year for your handicap if you wish to play in ladies' handicap competitions next year (inc knock-outs and tri-ams).

These scores do not need to be in competitions - you can submit General Play scores, either over 18 holes or over the 9 hole course.  There is no book to sign and the scores can be submitted using your phone App. If anyone needs help or advice on submitting General Play scores, please just ask me, or Stuart in the Pro Shop can no doubt help on the day if he is around.

For the avoidance of doubt, no handicaps will lapse under the new system, the 4 card requirement is for ladies competitions only. It was agreed by the Ladies Committee at the end of last year and announced at the AGM in January, and has been introduced in an attempt to make things fairer for all players.
