Mary and Sheila win the Inter County Foursomes Qualifier at Williamwood Golf Club

Congratulations go to Mary Hardie and Sheila Gray who were the winners of the top net prize in the Renfrewshire County foursomes qualifier played over Williamwood Golf Course yesterday. Unfortunately they are unable to play in the finals over Milngavie on the 2nd June and they are replaced by Anne Robinson and Helen Crichton as the reserve qualifiers
The above have also qualified for the Commonwealth Spoon Finals in Forres in September along with Sarah Eckford and Iona Stephen. Lois Brown who partnered Liz Crichton (Kilmacolm) has also qualified for both finals.

County Championship - Anne , Denise and Carol are still smiling !

Anne, Denise and Carol all tried their best today in the 1st round of the Renfrewshire County Championship Matchplay at Haggs Castle Golf Club.  Unfortunately Denise and Carol were totally outplayed by their Scratch opponents and although they played their best they were both well and truly "gubbed" !!
Anne faired a little better and held on for much of the match but it all slipped away !!

Ranfurly Castle Ladies do well in the County Championship Qualifier at Haggs Castle

Anne Judge, Carol Fell and Denise Cowan all qualified for the Matchplay Stages of the Renfrewshire County Championship qualifier at Haggs Castle Golf Club today.
Sarah Eckford also qualified but is unable to play in the matchplay stages.
Anne, Carol and Denise  are all  up against current Renfrewshire County Team Players --- Anne is to play Liz Stewart (H'Cap 4), Carol is against Alyson McKechin (Scratch) and Denise is against Megan Briggs (Scratch) --- We will try our best !!

Ranfurly Castle Launches it's New Website

Ranfurly Castle has a New Website at www.ranfurlycastlegolfclub.co.uk 
In the Ladies Section there are 4 Main Topics:
1. Ladies News --- All updates from this current " Blog" will be there plus access to the full "Ladies Blog". Also if you scroll down in that section you will see a link to Old Photograph albums and Videos plus any new albums will be located in that section.
2. Inter Club Events -- This has all the Greenlees Fixtures and Results plus West Renfrewshire Fixtures and Results.
3. Competition -- All Matchplay draws and results will be there plus a submit button to send in your results so that the drawsheets can be kept up to date. The Submit your Away Score button is there as well as on this blog page
4. Useful Scottish Golf Links -- This area is for links to many other websites that will keep you in touch with the "Outside Golfing World "

Any suggestions will be taken on board to try and improve the Ladies Section within the new Website. Please email Carol Fell  and she will let you know if it is possible !!!

The Ladies Blog has now had over 30,000 hits since it was introduced and we are delighted that it has still been able to be used.

Kilmacolm Golf Club Social Evening - Ranfurly Castle Ladies attend.

Pamela Wilson, Chrissie Robertson and Carol Fell represented Ranfurly Castle at Kilmacolm Golf Club Ladies Social Evening last week. Lois Brown was also there.  
Ladies European Tour player Lynn Kenny was the guest speaker and a beautiful supper was served.

West Renfrewshire Ladies Golf League.

The West Renfrewshire Ladies Golf League is aimed at encouraging and developing match play experience, and gaining team spirit within the local competing clubs. This league was started to give working girls the opportunity to represent their club but this does not exclude any other Lady members. There will be 4 matches this season, all played on Tuesday evenings. Teeing off at approximately 5.00pm.
There are 2 Home matches and 2 Away fixtures. Players are given their full handicap difference with a maximum handicap of 30.
Each team consists of 6 ladies. If you would like to play, please add your name to the sheet on the notice board in the Ladies locker room.

Congratulations go to Eunice Muir and Shona Stewart for winning this year's Winter Greensomes Competition. Commiserations to Marion Munro and Jean Irvine as the runners-up. Well done .

    Nine Hole Stableford Competition

    The first 9 Hole Competition will be played on Wednesday, 13th April, 2011. Please note that you may only play 9 hole Qualifying Competitions from the tees that have been designated. The SLGA, in accordance with the USGA Course Rating System have confirmed that the holes 4-12 are to be played. This competition is a Counting Competition for retaining an existing handicap. Ranfurly Castle Golf Club must be your home club. All players must meet at the clubhouse by 9.30am to be included in the mixed ballot. All players must sign the competition book. Players play with their EXACT handicap (see chart in the locker room). After the ballot has been done , play will start at the 4th tee .The tee is reserved from 10.00am to 10.45 am. Please remember that there is limited car parking facilties at the 4th tee car park. Lastly,please be patient, as I am sure there maybe the odd teething problem but nothing that will be unsurmountable. Have fun.

    Final Proposals for the SLGA/ SGU Amalgamation

    Following the consultation process with clubs, counties and associations the final proposal for amalgamation of the SLGA and SGU has been published. This proposal will be voted on at an SLGA EGM at the Bell Library in Perth on Wednesday 25th May at 12 noon.
