Played Wednesday 8 September 2021.
11 ladies played in weather that was unexpectedly boiling for the time of year!
1st Silver: Marion Munro 89 (12) 77 (bih)
2nd Silver: Jan Macnab 86 (9) 77
1st Bronze: Mary Hardie 101 (25) 76
2nd Bronze: Gillian Donaghy 104 (25) 79 (bih)
TROPHY WINNER: Mary Hardie
The scoring was relatively high for such a calm day, but there was a highlight when Denise Cowan had a HOLE-IN-ONE at the 14th.
Reported as a 7 iron shot that was played through the bunker gap for a kick in towards the pin on the right, both Marion and Denise were not sure the ball was in the hole until they looked closely! Well done Denise 😀

This last friendly fixture of 2021 was hosted at home on a beautiful warm day with the course in excellent condition.
The Elderslie ladies enjoyed the match and our hospitality afterwards.
The match result was a very equitable half.
Many thanks to our team of Lindsay Wright, Pauline MacEwen, Fiona Christie, Morag Cunningham and Evelyn McDermid who represented the club magnificently.
Very many thanks to Jan Macnab for organising and for playing on the day with the Elderslie organiser.
If any lady wishes to take part in a friendly match in 2022 (usually 3-4 matches over the season) please let me know (email@example.com). You can participate in as many or as few matches as you like. They are actually fun fixtures and good for match play practise in a relaxed atmosphere.

The annual match between the Lady Captains Team and the Gents Captains Team for the Halden Cup was played today.
Despite some threatening skies it stayed dry.

The Renfrewshire Ladies County Championship was played at Ranfurly Castle this week. Thanks to Craig and the greens staff for presenting the course in such a beautiful condition to show off to our visitors.
The Championship title was ultimately won by Jennifer Rankine of Haggs Castle (handicap +1) in a close match on Friday afternoon against Julie Wilson of Williamwood. Earlier, there had been a very good showing from our ladies.
Congratulations to Jan Macnab who won the Peggy Clark Cup for the best net score (73) in Wednesday's (very windy) qualifying round, just pipping Allison Murray with the better inward half.
Then, on Friday morning, Morag Cunningham won the handicap knockout final, beating Vicky Rennie at the 18th, to win the Irvine Trophy (presented 5 years ago by our own Jean Irvine).
Well done also to Denise Cowan who reached the semi-finals of the Championship itself and to Jan and Marion who both won their first match and were knocked out in the quarter-finals.

Much excitement today at the 7th hole when Vivien said (very casually) after hitting a nice 7 wood shot onto the green “I think that’s a Hole-In-One”. She had heard it dropping although the rest of us had not even been watching that closely 😲
Sure enough, the ball was in the hole.
Well done Vivien and congratulations on your 1st Hole-In-One !

Questions have been raised recently about whether it is permissible to change your competition tee-off time.As ballots are now drawn and times allocated 9 days in advance, players’ circumstances can change in the following days and it is therefore permissible to change your competition tee-off time however you wish up to and including the day before the competition. (Please as a courtesy advise your playing partners if you are withdrawing or changing your tee time).
The Ladies Committee has also decided that in the unusual circumstance of no-one being available to mark a player’s card for a competition, then the player can change their original tee time on the day of the competition to allow another player to mark their card.
Also note that there is no lower limit to the number of ladies entering a competition for it to go ahead. A competition will only be cancelled if bad weather leads to the course being unplayable or if there are zero entries.

The first of the monthly Tuesday 9 hole Stablefords will be held on Tuesday 18 May.
To play in one of these, you can enter yourself through the Scottish Golf App 7 days before the competition, from 7am. ie entries for 18 May open this Tuesday 11 May at 7am.
There have been no arrangements made this season for 9 hole bookings, so to play in the 9 hole Stableford you will need to book a time to start at the 1st Tee and then play/walk round to the 4th Tee before starting to record your score for holes 4-12. You can then walk in from the 12th.
You will need to arrange your own group or marker to play with. To book your tee time, firstly enter the competition itself on the App and then use the purple "My Tee Time" button to select the time you want to play. Note that, if some of your group are unable to use the App to enter themselves, you can enter yourself and enter them as well at the same time. Make sure you book your tee time this way - through the competition - not as a usual General Play booking.
For simplicity there will be no entry fee charged for these 9 hole stablefords.
On the day, check in with Stuart at the Pro Shop, where you can pick up a card. I do not recommend trying to score using a phone on the way round - fill in your cards as you would have done in the past and when you finish you can either try to enter your score on the iPad in the Pro Shop (Stuart may be able to assist), or failing that, send me a picture of your card and I can enter your score for you.
Any questions or problems entering, phone me and I will try to help

The Clubhouse reopens tomorrow (hurrah!). A sheet will be placed on the locker room notice board for the Coronation Foursomes.
It would be helpful if those who have arranged to play could add their names to this sheet along with their approximate preferred start time (Note: Players will have to book their own tee time via General Play from this Thursday 29 April).
This will also assist players who are still looking for a partner and those who need another pair to play with.
Entry money of £2 each (£4 per couple) should be placed in the box in the locker room.
