Ladies Club Champion 2009-Natasha Qayum

Natash Qayum amd Marion Munro - click to enlarge Natasha and Marion - Click to enlarge

Congratulations to Natasha who won her 1st Club Championship, beating Marion Munro in today's Final.
Those who walked round with the girls would be reminded of the quality of play required at this level. The margin of error is slim, and when it happens, it can be cruel.
The weather turned nasty from the 9th onwards, with Natasha winning on the 14th.
And so with the brolleys up and heads down, we returned to the clubhouse, where tea was poured for some, and others? Well deserved glasses of wine! ( and maybe a coke)
Club Captain Douglas Martin presented Junior, Senior and Club Prizes and Lady Captain Helen Abram announced Natasha as our our new Club Champion!
Very well done Natasha and Marion and thanks to all the supporters.

Other clubs in Division 1 still have matches to play and when these are completed Ranfurly's final position will be determined.

Judge Quaich --- Friday 21st August

Junior Girls - Click to enlarge
This year's competition was narrowly won by the boys. 7 junior girls made up the team. It was decided that we would have 2 singles over 12 holes (due weather concerns) 1 single over 6 holes and two foursome matches also over 6 holes. As the weather deteriorated these games were cut to 4 holes.
However, it was great afterwards to see the lounge so busy with our juniors, enjoying the food and hearing the laughter that only busy tables of youngsters can produce.!
During the evening the Judge Quaich was presented to Ben Adamson who gave a short vote of thanks. Well done Ben!
My thanks to all who took part, the girls were Natasha and Alexandra Qayum, April Paterson, Jane McCabe, Beth Satterwaithe, Gwen Gillham and Karen Priestly and thanks to John Kerr for his help and support.

Today we held our first Open Day in 14 years. Despite a wet start spirits were high and by midday the sun was shining and the course was looking wonderful with very fast greens. A magnificent sum of £1,350 was raised, to be divided between Cruise Bereavement Care Scotland and St Vincent's Hospice. Congratulations to the winning team who came from Greenock Golf Club. Many thanks have to go to the Open Day Committee consisting of Marion, Alison, Anne, Eunice, Jean and Sara for their splendid organisation of the event. Thanks also to other ladies who helped from the Ladies Committee and to Helen Crichton and Jean Irvine for the lovely flower arrangements.

Children's Day 3 August

36 took part. The weather tried very hard to dampen the spirits of all in the vicinity of the 1st tee, however all who signed up to play appeared to enjoy the day, whether they were playing 18holes, 6 holes, 4holes or 1 winter green hole. And don't forget the putting!!.
Douglas Martin the Club Captain said a few words just before the prizes were presented by the Lady Captain Helen Abram.
A big thankyou to all the ladies who helped, namely Sheila Biggart, Fiona Scott, Lady Captain Helen Abram, Jan McNab, Karin Mckenzie, Eileen Walker and Mary Hardie, and ofcourse all the mums/dads and grans who marked cards.
