MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM YOUR WEBMASTER CAROL
Wednesday, December 15, 2010
Let the Party begin !! -- From your Committee
Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab!
Merry Christmas to all our Readers
Just to let you know that this Ladies Section of the website has had 27,000 hits since this ladies "blog" was introduced.
I would personally like to thank all who have been able to put on the posts themselves --- very easy and has added to keeping us all up todate.
As a Glasgow member one of the best things from my point of view is when Captain Agnes has put on the website at 8am that the weather has closed the course and the competition is postponed --- Thankyou Agnes what a help that has been.
Competition Results are there to seen at the end of the day;
Away scores have been able to be submitted from your home computer;
Links to all outside achievements from members and much more.
I would like to wish everyone at Ranfurly Castle a very Merry Christmas and a good 2011 golfing year ----- CLICK HERE TO SEE YOUR CARD FROM YOUR WEBMASTER

Who is Santa ???
Guess Who -- Click to enlarge |
Moira Wilson came second with a lovely festive jumper but we all have to bow to "Santa" alias Helen Abram.
After lunch a new version of "these are a few of my favourite things" was sung by everyone.
Our Glasgow girlies I know intended taking part-the weather just got in the way.
It is very frustrating.

INTREPID TRAVELLERS ARRIVE ON TIME FOR THE GREENLEES MATCH
The Greenlees Team faced an additional challenge getting to their final match of the season at Cathkin Braes today due to a certain VIP visiting the City of Glasgow.
Despite roads being closed and one of our team staying just a 5 iron distance from Bellahouston Park the Team set off in good time to ensure punctuality!
The journey to and from the match was easy, it was the golf that proved more of a challenge.
Despite Ranfurly's best efforts in fine sunny weather with a stiff breeze the result was an 8 - 1 loss (two halved matches) against a very strong Cathkin team aiming to top the division. Cathkin now await the completion of the last matches to see if they have won the Greenlees Trophy.
Ranfurly Castle have done well to remain in Division 1 thanks to the commitment and good match play by the team over the season.

Outing to Buchanan Castle Golf Club -The winners were the "last Team"!
After a few years in the rain, our outing today was played in dry conditions. At last!
29 ladies played this lovely course and I am confident, that they all enjoyed the contrast that it offered us from playing in quite different terrain at Ranfurly Castle.
Pheasants and deer were spotted along the way, birdies?..well not as many as we would have liked!
My thanks to Marilynn Muirhead for organising the day and buying the prizes.
1st place went to the "last game out" , the team was made up of Carol Fell, Linda MacDougall and Karin Mckenzie.
2nd place was Rosemary Ogilive, Pat Pennel and Cynthia Keanie.
Longest silver drive prize winner was Anne Judge
Longest bronze drive prize winner was Marilynn Muirhead.

Natasha does well at the Scottish Junior Strokeplay
Natasha has been playing at the Scottish Junior Open Stroke Play Championship at Dunfermline (Pitfirrane) Golf Club over the last 3 days.
The Pitfirrane course was so sodden by heavy rain that there was an hour’s delay at one point on the first day to allow the excess water to subside so it was a hard day for all the players. The next 2 days were better but the course must have been pretty wet.
The format for the championship was 54-holes strokeplay - one round each day - and there was no cut.
Natasha had a good 1st round -- only 4 over the CSS --- a 78 and then had an 84 on the second round that included 3 bad holes to spoil her card.
Today however she had a terific round of 75 -- one over the CSS to finish her in 17th place ---- WELL DONE NATASHA
Alexandra also played --- and well done --- keep on going

Veterans Competition and Gillies Trophy
Played 23rd June 2010, 42entries, SSS73, CSS 72
Veterans winner - Jean Irvine (21) 39pts
Runner up - Helen Crichton (26) 38pts bih
Gillies Trophy Winner - Rosemary Ogilvie (17) 38pts bih
Ladies, we are aware of the problems caused by the sprinklers at the 13th and the 14th. Information was obtained from several players and advice sought from Jennie French, SLGA handicap advisor.
After much discussion , the Lady Captain and the Handicap committee have deemed that the competition will stand.
For future reference, Tom has advised that mobile phones should be carried (on silent mode) and should this situation recurr, contact him at the shop and he will contact the greenstaff. There would be a 15minute play suspension until the problem had been rectified.
The Lady Captain has already been in touch with the Club Captain and the Greens Convenor. They are very aware of this unforgiveable situation , which again has affected a Ladies Competition.

Rosemary Ogilvie wins the Past Lady Captain's Trophy
Organised by Helen Abram, the above event went without a hitch with the weather improving nicely as the 19 competing ladies completed their 16 hole round.
Rosemary Ogilvie won first prize with Evy MacGregor 2nd. Nearest the pin for silver was Mary Hardie , 62 inches and for bronze Dorothy Simpson 525cms .. what more can I say.!
The noise level would suggest that everyone was having a good time.. and afterwards....for some...sherry.. yes sherry.. was served in the smoke room.
Well I never!!!!!!!!
