Denise Cowan, Maureen Cook, Carol Fell, Anne Judge, Mary Hardie, Jean Irvine, Jan Macnab, Marion Munro, Alexandra Qayum and Agnes Williamson all featured in the Prizewinners List.
We all know that GB&I men hold the Walker Cup, European Professionals hold both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup and all that remains is the Curtis Cup, the amateur ladies trophy. This match will be held in Scotland at Nairn 8-10 June 2012 and the SLGA are hoping that Scotland can be the scene of the clean sweep of all the Team Championships. At a meeting in Strathmore in September each Scottish County was asked to put forward an ‘Ambassador’.
Carol Fell was announced as being appointed as this County Ambassador post to liaise with the SLGA to help get support for the GB&I team.

Greenlees Team enjoy an end of season outing to Dundonald Links
Anne, Evy and Lois - Cheers |
13 Greenlees Team players enjoyed an end of season outing to Dundonald Links yesterday. After a spot of lunch a Team Stableford Waltz was played (1 score to count at the first, 2 at the 2nd and 3 at the 3rd hole then back to one score again).
The weather held out apart from a bad shower in the middle.
The winning team who received 3/4 of their handicap (due to being a team of 4) was Anne Judge, Marion Munro, Maureen Cook and Sarah Ekford with 72 points. The Runners up team was Carol Fell, Iona Stephen and Nancy MacGadie with 63 points. Sarah and Iona had the best individual scores with 33 points each.
Fiona Roger was nearest the pin at the 6th. However, since she had donated a glove, Carol Fell received it for having a 2 at the 6th.
Unfortunately we were sorry that we had two call offs at the last moment --- Lesley Robertson, who had work commitments and Denise Cowan who has damaged her cruciate ligament -- Denise we wish you a speedy recovery.
We all then went to North Gailes after the match for refreshments and a lovely meal.
Many thanks go to the Greenlees Team Captain Anne Judge for organising the event.

Denise loses in the Final of the Renfrewshire County Rosebowl
The final of the Renfrewshire County Rosebowl was played yesterday at Ralston Golf Club.
Denise Cowan who had been cut to 6 after her good round in Wednesday's Medal, had to give Marion Stewart from Kilmacolm 4 shots in the round.
Marion went 2 up immediately after Denise dropped shots at the first 2 holes then Denise managed to get the score back to all square at the 7th. Then at the 10th hole Marion had the only birdie of the round to go back to 1up and eventually she was dormie on the 16th tee . She won there with a par 5 to clinch the trophy after playing some very steady golf.
Hard luck Denise but well done in making the final.

Greenlees Team win their Final Match against Douglas Park
Greenlees matches tee off Click to enlarge |
The game started in lovely sunshine and then the downpour started. The 18th green became flooded -- but luckily only the 9th match (last game) had to go to the last hole and by then the sunshine had reappeared - the water on the 18th had subsided and Lois Brown had a halved match and we were able to complete the match. All team players were unbeaten -- A great result.
The team has now finished with 38.5 points and are probably safe to stay in the 1st division
Many thanks to all who have played throughout the season.

Greenlees Team lose to Cathkin Braes
Hi Ladies
This afternoon the Greenlees team played Cathkin Braes Ranfurly Castle and I am sorry to report that we lost 5-4.
It is only a small blip and I am sure the team will have a good win at our last match which is on 24th August. Most of the teams have still got more matches to play so it will be September before we will have all the results, however I am confident that we will stay in Division 1.

The Entries for the Scottish Ladies Stroke Play Foursomes Championship which is to be played at Glenbervie Golf Club on Sunday 28 August are soon to close. I have attached a copy of the entry form as well as a link to the entry form on the SLGA web-site.

Greenlees Team lose to Kilmarnock Barassie
Iona enjoys her 1st Greenlees Match - Click to enlarge |
Today the Greenlees team travelled to Kilmarnock Barassie to play our 5th match of the season. The weather was very benign with lovely playing conditions. The course was great with fabulous greens. Unfortunately, the outcome was not quite as good. We lost 8 - 1, but four of the games did go to the 18th, so we were very close to a different outcome.
One of those matches included our 'Rookie' Iona, (pictured above) who did very well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The company was good and as usual the 'apres golf' was excellent.
