RANFURLY CASTLE PLAYERS THROUGH TO GRAND FINAL

East Renfrewshire Golf Club hosted the Scottish Womens Regional Medal Final (West Division) yesterday, Sunday 12 May 2019.
Ranfurly Castle was represented by Jan Macnab (Silver division) and Helen Abram (Bronze division). The qualifiers were determined by the 4 best medal scores during 2018, with competitors playing in the division in which they qualified, even if no longer in that division.
Congratulations to Jan and Helen as they have both qualified to play in the Grand Final, to be played on the Eden Course, St Andrews, on Sunday 16th June. Good luck girls!

Ranfurly Castle was well represented at the Renfrewshire County Ladies Anniversary Dinner on Thursday evening at Haggs Castle G.C.
Unfortunately Past Captain Pamela Mackenzie’s had an accident in preparing for the event, and was unable to make it.
We wish her a speedy recovery.

From Carol Fell who was invited into the photo above and will no longer a member of the Club on the 1st April -- - It is sad to leave Ranfurly Castle after 43 years membership but I really was no longer managing to play much now at the club. -- I wish everyone a successful and enjoyable season and I am sure I will still be seeing and meeting up with many of you.

BRIDGE AFTERNOON A BIG SUCCESS

The annual Ranfurly Castle Bridge Drive was held yesterday, Wednesday 13th March, in the afternoon for the first time. 17 tables (68 players) took part and all said they enjoyed the afternoon tea which was served at their tables by the ladies committee.

The winners were:
1st Robin Scott - 2240 points
2nd Norah Adams - 2040 points
3rd Nancy MacGadie 1850 points
Margaret Parrot and Vivien Howe won the prize for a small slam.

Many thanks to all the ladies who prepared the food, donated raffle prizes, provided flowers and moved furniture around.

I am delighted to say that £340 was raised by the raffle for Crohn's & Colitis UK.

ANNE AND MARION WIN COUNTY WINTER FOURSOMES

Anne Judge and Marion Munro came through an epic battle at Pollok Golf Club last Friday 8th March. They survived pretty terrible weather and a very close match to beat Jan Macnab and Sheila Shaw (Caldwell) in the Renfrewshire County Winter Foursomes Final. In a match which never saw either side more than 1 hole up, it took 22 holes to decide the winner!! Well done to Anne and Marion.

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN

A lovely photo of the 3 incoming captains.

Luckily the Drive-In was in dry conditions but the same can't be said of the game for the Captains Quaich!  Conditions were so bad that only the hardy completed the 9 holes.
Martin McGoldrick and Senga Nixon both finished with 21 points and Martin won out with the better inward score.  Well done to all who turned up and supported the day.

LADIES AGM AND PRIZEGIVING

Over 40 ladies attended the 89th Annual General Meeting and Prizegiving on Saturday 19th January 2019.
The 2018 playing season was recapped, highlighting our super outing to Pollok, team match results and successes of Ranfurly Castle players away from home. New Lady Captain Jan Macnab then took office, thanking Marion Munro for all her work as 2018 Captain and outlining her plans for 2019.
Trophy presentations followed and many then stayed on to enjoy a chatty lunch while looking out at the snow-covered course! Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for golf soon.
Thanks to Val and Jill for helping set up for the meeting and remaining cheery serving during an unexpectedly busy lunch-time!
