FRIENDLY MATCH AT ELDERSLIE - SUNDAY 24 APRIL 2022

Ranfurly Castle's Friendly Team ladies enjoyed a lovely, sunny day at Elderslie on Sunday 24 April.
Elderslie was in great condition, with very fast greens, and several of our girls are hoping to go back for their Ladies Open Day having played extremely well and therefore getting a great first impression of the course!

Unfortunately due to injury and Covid, Elderslie were unable to field a full team at the last minute, but their organiser came up with a creative format that saw a couple of 3-balls go out, which only added to the chat and fun on the day. I am pleased to report that a team win was recorded for Ranfurly Castle, although the main thing was everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Pictured practising before tee-off: (L to R) - Senga Nixon, Kate Scott, Lindsay Barclay, Anne Gordon, Pauline MacEwan. Not in picture (although had the best score of the day despite not practising!) - Evelyn McDermid.

Helens daughter, Sheila, has been in touch with the club to let us know that Helen has been admitted to ward 23 at the RAH after having another fall.

I will be sending Helen a card from us all to wish her a speedy recovery.

We had all enjoyed Helen joining us for lunch and coffee over recent weeks - hopefully we will see her back amongst us soon.

WINTER GREENSOMES RESULTS

Thank you for everyone's patience yesterday when we tried to run our Greensomes competition on VMS.

Unfortunately there was a problem with VMS calculating all the handicap allowances correctly. It worked for the majority but 4 were wrong. This is obviously more worrying than if they had all been wrong as there seems to be no obvious reason for it and I have been unable to get it to correct the calculations despite a long time trying.

The corrected final results are below. The VMS App still does not show the correct points for all, but the winners positions are not affected.

1) Vivien Howe & Gillian Donaghy            (23)    43pts

2) Marion Munro & Sheila Swinnerton       (21)    41pts

3) Mary Craig & Helen Abram                    (19)    38pts

4) Nancy MacGadie & Pamela MacKenzie  (18)    37pts

5) Denise Cowan & Louise Cooper              (11)    37pts

6) Karen Binning & Karin MacKenzie         (22)    36 pts

7) Jan Macnab & Sheila Biggart                    (11)    35pts

8) Alison Templeton & Morag Cunningham  (31)    31pts

9) Maureen Cook & Chris Minto                   (24)    31pts

10) Rosemary Reedie & Evelyn McDermid   (27)    31pts

11) Rosemary Ogilvie & Vicky Rennie         (27)    30pts

12) Anne Judge & Pat Pennel                    (18)    30pts

2022 SEASON

Wow, the new golf season is now only a month away (yes really!)

The Fixture List has already been emailed to all ladies and a copy is below on the blog, and will also be posted on the Locker Room Noticeboard.

This year, all golf will be entered using your SG App. The competitions will be set up well in advance and you can enter from 1 MONTH BEFORE the competition date.

All draws will be made on the Tuesday 8 days before for Wednesday games, so you must enter by the Monday 9 days before to be included (this is the same as last year, without the need for emailing).

Note: You can still enter handicap competitions like medals and stablefords after the ballot is drawn and select your own tee-time from 1 WEEK beforehand - same as last year.

Saturday competitions will have to be entered by the Thursday 9 days before, same as last year.

Competitions have already been set up on the SG App for dates up to May.

We will start with 2 bounce games on Wednesday 2 and Wednesday 9 March, to "practice" the new entry method. You can enter for 2 March from tomorrow (2 February ie 1 month before) and the draw will be done on Tuesday 22 February (8 days before).

[Please note there is an exception to every rule, and the Summer Knockout Competitions ie silver and bronze knockout and the summer foursomes will not use the App. Sign-up sheets were circulated at the AGM for those in attendance and you can add your name on the Noticeboard and pay in cash (named envelope in box please) in the traditional way]
