CAPTAINS DRIVE IN

Sunday 6th April the club Captains had a beautiful morning for their Drive In.

Alan McIntyre and Pauleen MacEwan both had excellent drives up the fairway, to the delight of the supporting crowd at the 1st tee.  The Captains Quaich competition then followed whch was won by Alastair Frood with 40 points.

WINNERS FROM CAPTAINS' DRIVE-IN COMPETITIONS

 Alison Templeton was the  winner of the Captain's Quaich and Fiona Aitken won the Welcome Quaich.  Both played on Sunday 28th April.

RESULTS - SUNDAY 28TH APRIL

Congratulations to Alison Templeton who won the Captain's Drive In Stableford (39 pts) and Fiona Aitken who won the Welcome Quaich (39 pts)). Well done both .

CAPTAINS' DRIVE-IN

Our two Captains eventually 'Drove In' this morning in glorious sunshine.  The crowd of supporters could have been bigger but that did not deter from the occasion.  Kate and Earl went off to enjoy 18holes along with others, playing in both the stableford competition and the Welcome Quaich.

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN

 Our new Captain drove off from the first tee at 10.00am on Sunday 8th January 2023.  Quite a crowd had turned up to support both Karen and Alistair Howe, the new Club Captain.  It was a cool but dry morning and the Captains' Quaich Stableford competition followed, over 12 holes.  Well done to the other 2 ladies who actually played and very many congratulations to Vivien who was the overall winner with 24 points.

HAPPY NEW GOLFING YEAR!

 Happy New Year to you all and I hope you all had fun times over Christmas with family and friends.

Some upcoming events:

• Shotgun Trophy scheduled for Tues 3rd Jan has been rescheduled to Sat 7th Jan due to current weather conditions.
  Pairs format of 4 ball betterball. Cost £15 to include breakfast roll/hot drink and lunch.
  If wishing to play on this new date, please contact the Pro shop.
• New Captains Drive-In will be on Sun 8th Jan. Meet for coffee 9.30am. Drive In 10am.
  A competition runs alongside the Drive In. Watch out for notices with details.
  Please come to support your new Lady Captain. Karen Binning, and Vice Captain, Kate Scott.
• Ladies AGM is at 11am on Sat 21st Jan with presentation of trophies.
  Please come and support your committee and incoming Captain and Vice Captain.
• Pamela will continue to arrange a draw for Wed bounce games. Please email her on pamjohn2004@hotmail.com by 17th Jan if you wish to be included for Feb games.

Lets hope 2023 is a good golfing year for us all!

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN

 8.30am on a Sunday morning in January seems  very early, but, this was the meeting time for the 2022 Captains drive in.  

Morag Cunningham was joined on the 1st tee by Club Captain Steven Scott and Junior Captain Ramsay McLeod.  It was dry with very little wind and the 3 drove up the fairway watched by a fair few friends, despite the early start.  The drive in was followed by the teams playing for the Captain's Quaich.

CAPTAINS DRIVE-IN now Sunday 23rd January

 Dear Ladies

Due to the incoming gents captain isolating due to Covid, the Captains Drive-In and Captains Quaich competition have been rescheduled to Sunday 23rd January.

The new captains will drive-in at 10.30am

The Captains Quaich competition can be entered on SG app. This has been upgraded to a 18 hole individual stableford. Playing groups will be drawn beforehand.

Lets hope the weather allows play on 23rd January.

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN - SUNDAY 9th JANUARY 2022

 Hello Ladies

The drive-in of the new captains will take place at 10.30am on Sunday 9th January.
Hopefully, the weather will be benign so that some of you may be inclined to come to the 1st tee to cheer off the 2022 captains.

There is an associated mixed competition for the Captains Quaich. Winner will be presented with the quaich by Stevie Scott, the 2022 Club Captain.
The format will be mixed individual stableford. Entries can be made now on the SG app. Tee times have been reserved from 10.30-11.30am. A random draw will be done - games can include a mix of gents, ladies and juniors.

Due to the current Covid situation, there is no associated catering for those playing. 
For those who wish it, coffee/lunch will be available as usual in the clubhouse.

CAPTAINS' DRIVE-IN 2020

Thanks to everyone who came along on Sunday 12th January to witness the new Captains' Drive-In.

2019 Captain David Stewart handed over the badge of office to Eunice Muir, who then introduced the 2020 Gents Vice Captain, Brian McLaughlin.

Eunice, Brian and Lady Captain Jan later hit their tee shots off the first tee in front of a cheering audience (all balls in play, but Jan's disappointingly in the bunker!).

We were then very lucky with a dry and pleasant weather window for the 9 hole stableford competition. This year's winner of the Captains Quaich was Joy McLeod with 24pts, narrowly beating Kevin Barr and last year's winner Martin McGoldrick.

Well done Joy, a good start to the season for the Ladies!

PLAYING IN OF CAPTAINS

Just to say thank you to all who came on Saturday morning to see the playing in of the Captains. Just a pity the weather had the upper hand and the 9 hole competition for the Captain’s Quaich did not take place. Hopefully it will be re-sheduled.
