CORONATION FOURSOMES - JAN AND SHEILA WIN AGAIN !

16 Couples took part in the 2011 Peugeot LGU Competition today and last years's winners Jan MacNab and Sheila Biggart won again and will go on to represent the club in the Area Finals.

West Renfrewshire Ladies Golf League.

The West Renfrewshire Ladies Golf League is aimed at encouraging and developing match play experience, and gaining team spirit within the local competing clubs. This league was started to give working girls the opportunity to represent their club but this does not exclude any other Lady members. There will be 4 matches this season, all played on Tuesday evenings. Teeing off at approximately 5.00pm.
There are 2 Home matches and 2 Away fixtures. Players are given their full handicap difference with a maximum handicap of 30.
Each team consists of 6 ladies. If you would like to play, please add your name to the sheet on the notice board in the Ladies locker room.

Congratulations go to Eunice Muir and Shona Stewart for winning this year's Winter Greensomes Competition. Commiserations to Marion Munro and Jean Irvine as the runners-up. Well done .

The draws have been made for the Silver and Bronze Knockout Competitions and the Summer Foursomes. Please check the notice in the Ladies Locker room. Good luck.

    Nine Hole Stableford Competition

    The first 9 Hole Competition will be played on Wednesday, 13th April, 2011. Please note that you may only play 9 hole Qualifying Competitions from the tees that have been designated. The SLGA, in accordance with the USGA Course Rating System have confirmed that the holes 4-12 are to be played. This competition is a Counting Competition for retaining an existing handicap. Ranfurly Castle Golf Club must be your home club. All players must meet at the clubhouse by 9.30am to be included in the mixed ballot. All players must sign the competition book. Players play with their EXACT handicap (see chart in the locker room). After the ballot has been done , play will start at the 4th tee .The tee is reserved from 10.00am to 10.45 am. Please remember that there is limited car parking facilties at the 4th tee car park. Lastly,please be patient, as I am sure there maybe the odd teething problem but nothing that will be unsurmountable. Have fun.

    Final Proposals for the SLGA/ SGU Amalgamation

    Following the consultation process with clubs, counties and associations the final proposal for amalgamation of the SLGA and SGU has been published. This proposal will be voted on at an SLGA EGM at the Bell Library in Perth on Wednesday 25th May at 12 noon.

    MARIE CURIE 5 CLUB STABLEFORD

    The first competition of the season was played in brillant sunshine.
    Thirty-six ladies played and we collected £115.10.
    This will be sent to the Marie Curie Cancer Care.
    Thanks again for your generosity.

    Social Evening raises over £800 for "500 miles"

    Thanks to the 60 ladies who supported our Social evening. Olivia Giles (pictured above with Ladies Captain Karin) gave an inspirational talk and slideshow about the Scottish Charity "500 miles".
    We were overwhelmed with the impact that their work has been made to the disabled people in Malawi and Zambia, and also the continuing challenges they face.We have raised over £800.00 and still receiving donations.
    I appreiciate the generouisity shown by the Ladies of Ranfurly Castle. Many thanks to all the girls who helped make the evening a success.

    The Final of the Renfrewshire County Winter Foursomes was played today over Kilmacolm Golf Course.
    Janette McCartney (Erskine) and Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) beat Margaret Gray and Glennis Rintoul (Old Ranfurly) 5 and 4 . To read the full report go to the RLCGA WEBSITE

    12 Hole Winter Stableford

    The final of the Winter 12 Hole Stableford was played today, 20th March.
    The finalists being Iona Stephen and Anne Judge.

    Kilmacolm Social Evening.

    The Ladies Committee of the Kilmacolm Golf Club have organised a Social Evening on Tuesday, 5th April.
    Lynn Kenny,who has participated in a European Golf Tour. Will give an informative talk on "Life on the Tour".
    The cost will be £12.00 including a glass of wine and buffet supper, starting at 7.00pm.

    Thanks to singer /songwriter, Jill Jackson for a great evening of song at Ranfurly Castle.
    A full house on Saturday, 5th March added to the ambience of the night.
    Thanks to Nicola and Tom for superb supper and an especial thanks to Marion Munro and Jack Snell for organising the evening.

    SOCIAL EVENING AT RANFURLY CASTLE

    On Tuesday the 22nd March at 7.30pm, Miss Olivia Giles , Chief Executive of the Charity "500 miles" has accepted an invitation to come and speak to the Ladies Section at Ranfurly Castle Golf Club .

    "500 miles" is a Scottish Charity which aids ambulatory rehabilitation in Africa. Olivia will give a presentation on the challenges her charity face in carrying out this work in Malawi and Zambia.

    The cost of the evening will be £5.00 to include a raffle ticket, tea/coffee and home baking.
    All money received on the evening will be donated to "500 Miles".

    Please add your name to the list in the ladies locker room.
    I look forward to seeing you on the night.

    MARIE CURIE 5 CLUB STABLEFORD

    Our first competition of 2011 will be the MARIE CURIE 5 CLUB STABLEFORD, on Wednesday, 16th of March.
    Ballot times are 9.00 -10.30am and 12.45- 1.30pm.
    Entry will be £3.00 to include a daffodil pin.
    All the money raised will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
    This competition is non-counting and therefore, a good opportunity to get back swinging a golf club.
    Hopefully the weather will be kind.
