After receiving information from the greens staff regarding ongoing works on the course, and looking at the weather forecast, the decision has been made to cancel todays competition . We will reschedule at a later date in the Autumn. Sorry Ladies , but seems the most sensible thing to do . If you decide to play this morning , please be very careful.

Winter Greensomes Stableford - Wed 29th March 2023
Ladies, it has been recently brought to my attention, that due to ongoing course work, the car park will be closed on Wednesday.
Also other work taking place means that there is a possibility we will only be able to play 15 holes. Holes 13, 14, and 15 may be closed.
Greens personnel have sent their apologies for this and have promised to let me know the situation regarding these holes asap. I will update you when I have more information.
Also due to ongoing confusions with the new SGU App, the date for entry for all knockout competitions has been extended until April 9th.
APRIL MEDALS/COMPETITION ENTRY
Scottish Golf has formally confirmed that their new system CANNOT collect advance entries for competitions. It is driven by the tee sheet and you must have a tee time booked to enter a competition. (It is therefore not fit for purpose to use as the main management system for any golf club that runs member competitions, but that's just my humble opinion!)
We will therefore proceed as follows:
The April Medal on Wed 5 April will not have a ballot and we will use this as an opportunity to learn how to use the phone card/scoring system.
1) Tee sheet booking for Wed 5 April will open this Wed 29 March. Those wishing to enter the medal should book a time - just add yourself in to a time and others will join you or arrange a group if you wish (Max 3 players).
2) After booking a time, go into the Events tab on your App (bottom right) and select Ladies April Medal. You will be prompted to confirm (click "basket") and then have to "Check out" to pay the entry fee. This will only work if your account has sufficient funds. For info on how to Top Up, see email sent previously by the club or ask for advice from Club or Pro Shop.
3) On the day of the medal ARRIVE EXTRA EARLY. Everyone will individually have to create a Competition Score Card on their phone app. You don't HAVE to score on your phone on the way round the course, you can use the Club iPad when you finish your round, but you have to create the score card before you start. Everyone should visit the Pro Shop when they arrive so Stuart can show you how to do this.
4) All scores must be entered (on phone or iPad), checked as correct and signed off BEFORE you leave the club. There is a geographical restriction on where scores can be entered and this must be close to the club, cannot be done from home or "sorted" later.
The above instructions also apply for the Saturday Medal on 8 April, with booking open on Saturday 1 April.
As previously advised, sign-ups for the Yellow Ball Tri-Am on Wed 12 April should be done on the sheet on the Ladies Locker Room Notice board. Make sure you sign up and pay your £2 by Monday 3 April to be included in the draw.
Late Update: We have just been advised that the Club is insisting on fairway mat use for a further 2 weeks and therefore the April medals will be non-counting for handicap purposes.

COMPETITION ENTRIES
A sheet has been posted on the ladies locker room notice board to sign up for the Yellow Ball Tri-Am on Wednesday 12 April. Please put your £2 entry money in an envelope in the box when you enter.
The draw will be done on Tuesday 4 April.
A notice has also been posted on the hallway notice board for the 2023 Worpleston Mixed Foursomes. £5 entry fee per couple should be paid in the Pro Shop. Entries close Friday 7 April.
We are still working on online advance entry for balloted handicap-counting competitions. Interim measures may be needed for the April medals and information will be posted on this by the start of next week (Monday 27 March).

5 CLUB 12 HOLE STABLEFORD - WEDNESDAY 22 MARCH
Tee sheet bookings for 22 March will open tomorrow, Wed 15 March, 7 days before our competition.
As previously advised, ladies wishing to play in the competition should book a time (arrange your own group or add yourself to another group)
NOTE: Do NOT book to play in 4s - play in groups of 2 or 3 max for scoring competitions.
On the day, simply take a normal card from the locker room and fill this in. Take your green course handicap strokes where you would normally get them and complete holes 1-12 only (put down gross score and stableford points for each hole). Leave cards in the box when finished.
No entry fees will be collected.
HANDICAPS - 9 HOLE SCORES
Ladies who have 9 hole score cards in their handicap record may notice a change in their Handicap Index processed today.
Our "composite" 9 hole green course (holes 4-12) was not set up on the new system and therefore all 9 hole scores were wrong (assumed the scores were for the Front 9, ie holes 1-9 not 4-12)
I have now had the correct course set up by Scottish Golf and amended all the ladies 9 hole cards I could find. If you have a 9 hole score in your record and this is not now described as Green Composite 9, please let me know as I might have missed a couple!

2023 COMPETITIONS
1) 5-club 12-hole Stableford on Wed 22 March
2) Winter Greensomes on Wed 29 March
ladies will need to arrange their own playing groups and book into the tee sheet in the same way we have been doing for bounce games. Scoring should be done on cards, and put in the box on completion. There will be no entry fees for these two competitions for simplicity.
Handicaps
In the meantime, if any lady has a query about their handicap index which is now showing on the new system, please contact Karen or me as soon as possible with the details of your concern, so we can look into it before the start of April.

AGM
Yesterday 36 ladies attended the 93rd AGM, held in the Ranfurly Room at the Club. It was a very icy morning so it is good to report that no broken bones happened as a result of venturing out. Morag welcomed Karen as our new Captain for 2023 and the Silver Trophies from 2022 were presented. I am sure we all wish Karen all the very best for a successful year ahead.

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN
Our new Captain drove off from the first tee at 10.00am on Sunday 8th January 2023. Quite a crowd had turned up to support both Karen and Alistair Howe, the new Club Captain. It was a cool but dry morning and the Captains' Quaich Stableford competition followed, over 12 holes. Well done to the other 2 ladies who actually played and very many congratulations to Vivien who was the overall winner with 24 points.

XMAS WALTZ
21 Ladies played in the fun Xmas Waltz on Wed 7th December. It was a lovely crisp day with very heavy frost, so the ball was bouncing, and we had temporary greens. Xmas outfits were worn by some and Santa hats seemed to be the most popular! Some good scores came in but the winning team with 56 points were Anne Judge, Morag Cunningham and Sheila Swinnerton. A fair number of non playing members joined in for the festive lunch and Xmas jumpers were in full view. The prize for the best dressed went to Janice Naismith who looked amazing in her Elf outfit- she even wore it to play golf- well done Janice!
