JAN, ANNE AND MARION ARE THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS OF THE RENFREWSHIRE COUNTY FOURSOMES

One of the 2nd round Renfrewshire Ladies County Winter Foursomes ties was played yesterday (Monday 26 November) at Caldwell Golf Club with Jan Macnab partnering Sheila Shaw (Caldwell) taking on the East Renfrewshire pairing of Carole Spy and Past County Captain Gillian Kyle. - Jan and Sheila won and have progressed to the Quarter Final Stages .

Also through to the quarter finals are Anne Judge and Marion Munro.

Greensomes - Trophy Winner and Runner up

Ranfurly Castle  players did well with Jan Macnab picking up a couple of trophies -- The Irvine Trophy (donated by Jean Irvine) from winning the handicap matchplay at the County Championships at Haggs Castle in April.
In August with partner Allison Murray they won the Greensomes over Fereneze. -- Nancy MacGadie and Evy McGregor were runners up. -  (Allison and Evy unable to attend)

LADIES ANNUAL DINNER 2018

Last night 49 ladies attended the Ladies Annual dinner for the presentation of medal prizes, Yellow Ball Fun competitions, Charity Tri-Am and Australian Texas Scramble. An excellent meal was enjoyed by all with plenty of chat.  The evening was concluded with a raffle for Alzheimer’s Scotland with the year’s final total for the charity coming to £416. A fantastic sum.  Thanks again to everyone.

 

 

 

FINAL SWING 17th October 2018

The Final Swing took place today with 23 ladies playing a 12 hole course.

The final matches in Division 1 of the Greenlees Trophy were played yesterday with Troon beating Prestwick St Nicholas 7-2 to win the title from West Kilbride who are the runners up.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

On Saturday 25th August 2018 the Club Championship took place in very pleasant and sometimes sunny conditions.  The finalists were Denise Cowan and Jan Macnab.  It was a very close fought match with Jan winning on the 17th. Well done to both for reaching the final and congratulations to Jan on her achievement.
In the gents section Andrew Cunningham retained his title beating Ethan Law.
After the presentation of prizes 60 people enjoyed a Italian themed buffet.  Thanks again to Stewart Catering.

LADIES OUTING TO POLLOK 22nd AUGUST 2018

The Ladies outing to Pollok took place on Wednesday 22nd August.  30 ladies thoroughly enjoyed the flat course  in very pleasant conditions and after the golf we all had a delicious meal.  Many thanks to Pamela for organising the day.

GREENLEES V HAGGS CASTLE 20th AUGUST 2018

Our match today took place at home against Haggs Castle in very calm and pleasant conditions.

This was our last match of the season and a bit of a nail biter.  If we did not have a good win we would be on our way to the second division but luckily that was not the case.  Having achieved a 6 - 3 win we will now be staying up in division one.  

We have finished with 36 1/2 points and it is still unclear which club is going to win. Click here to read more

Thanks to the 28 ladies who played today, Wednesday 15 August, in the annual Pooh Putter competition. The 16 hole greensomes match play format was enjoyable, as was the whole day once the weather dried up from its miserable start.
While many of the games were closely contested, the match result was not, being a convincing win for Captain Marion's team. Well done Marion and her girls!

Another successful Invitation Day took place on Friday 10th August with 36 ladies having a very enjoyable day on a lovely course and then followed by an excellent lunch.  The weather managed to behave it’s self with only a few spits and spots. Many thanks to Mary Craig for organising the event.

GREENLEES V PRESTWICK ST. NICHOLAS August 3rd 2018

The penultimate Greenlees match took place this afternoon at home against Prestwick St. Nicholas in breezy but pleasant conditions. The result was a very good win for Ranfurly Castle. 61/2 to 21/2.
Here’s hoping we can repeat this in our last match against Haggs.

GREENLEES V TROON 23rd JULY 2018

Today we played at Troon Portland in our sixth match of the season and we were very pleased to come away with a respectable half match.  Thankfully we were all in before the heavens opened.

THE LADIES OPEN DAY

Thursday 19th July saw 75 ladies play in 25 teams of 3 for the Tri-am format of the Open day.  Conditions were perfect for good scoring which resulted in the winning team returning with 90 stabelford points - 2 scores at each hole and 3 at the last.  The team consisted of Eda Davey, Joan Walker and Linda Morgan from Balfron GC.  In second place with 86 points were Adrienne MacLagan, Mandy Allan and Christine Houston from Milngavie GC., while in third place were Isobel Rhind and Anne Sharp from Bothwell Castle and our own Chris Minto with 85 points.

HOSPICE CUP 2018

The Hospice Cup was played on Sunday 15th July at the second attempt. Unfortunately only two brave people played in the competition as the weather was very wet.  Donations were given.

20 ladies played in a tri-am format in lovely dry and very pleasant conditions.  They were joined by 5 more ladies for a splendid two course lunch.
The winning teams were:-
1st place, Anne Judge, Agnes Williamson and Eileen Walker with 45 points.
Runners up, Evy MacGregor, Helen Abram and Vicky Rennie with 41 points.
