A good win for the team last night at home against Renfrew - 4.5 to 1.5, and home before the rain!

Well done everyone. All to play for in the final match at Ralston next week.

HOSPICE CUP - SUNDAY 15TH JUNE 2025

 The Hospice Cup is this Sunday, 15th June. This is a stableford competition, red or green tees. No tee times have been reserved for this. You can play whenever you prefer, as long as your card is marked by someone also playing in the competition.

There is no entry fee, but any donations to the charity should be put in a brown envelope and posted into box.

Past Lady Captains golf and lunch - Friday 20th June

The annual Ranfurly Castle Golf Club past Lady Captains golf and lunch will take place on Friday 20th June.

The sign-up sheet for this event, open to ALL past captains, is in the locker room noticeboard.  We will play a 12 hole stableford competition from the green tees in teams of 3 prior to lunch.  A draw for the teams will be posted nearer the date.

The lunch choices are as follows: 

Honey siratcha salmon bowl with rice, avocados, carrot & cucumber and siratcha mayo.

Or

Greek grilled chicken salad - grill chicken, feta, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives and yogurt dressing.

Fresh strawberries & ice cream 

OR

Chocolate brownie & ice cream 

Please indicate on the sheet if you wish to play golf and your lunch choices.  The price for the lunch is £15 (includes tea and coffee but no gratuity) and should be paid directly to Leanna prior to the event.

Spring Meeting for Captain's Prizes _- Wednesday 18th June

 It is hard to believe that it is June already!  On Wednesday 18th of June, it will be my pleasure to host the Spring Meeting for Captain's prizes.  

The competition will be set up on the system (without any entrance fee) and you can enter this way.  The competition will be over the GREEN course only.  It will be a Stableford format.

Please note that if you wish to play in the Scratch competition, you must complete each hole, giving you a gross score and a stableford one.

West Renfrewshire Kilmacolm v's Ranfurly Castle Golf club

 On a night of squally showers and gusty winds, our West Renfrewshire Ladies team managed to secure their second victory in the league against Kilmacolm at their course.  The final result was a 3.5 to 2.5 win for the Castle Ladies.

Greenlees Result

 Well done!  The Greenlees team played in awful conditions on Monday afternoon, resulting in a  well deserved home victory against Prestwick St Nicolas.  The final result was a fantastic 7.5 versus 1.5 win for the Ranfurly Castle ladies. Great result. 

Charity Competitions

A big thank you to everyone who competed and to those that donated to the charity competitions last week.  As you know the funds raised are donated to The MacMillan Cancer trust and to Marie Curie. I am delighted to inform you that we raised £270, an increase from last year's total of £190.

LESLEY IS WEST SENIORS' CHAMPION

Huge congratulations to Lesley Robertson who won the West of Scotland Seniors Championship at Renfrew Golf Club yesterday. This was Lesley's first time competing in the Championship - starting as she means to go on!

In the final on Thursday afternoon, she beat Lesley Lloyd (Lanarkshire) 4&2 in an impressive display of golf, especially in the tricky conditions faced everywhere due to the prolonged dry spell of weather.

Well done Lesley, from all of us at Ranfurly Castle.

Friendly Match against Kilmalcom

 The first Friendly Match of the season was played at Kilmacolm on Monday in bright & breezy conditions.  The games were all very close and in the end we won two and lost two, so the result was a very friendly draw!

I also persuaded the future (2045) Masters champion to attend decked out in his green jacket.  He had a ball.

GREENLEES

The Greenlees team began their foray back into Division 1 with an away game at Milngavie on Monday. A 6.5/2.5 loss wasn't ideal but also not a disaster away from home. Special mention to Captain Pauline who stepped up and played her first Greenlees match, following a last minute call off. 

WEST RENFREWSHIRE LEAGUE

The West Ren team started their 2025 campaign with a home game against Gourock on Thursday evening. Congrats to the team of Louise, Pauline, Kate, Joy, Eleanor and rookie Sheila S, who managed to get a 3.5/2.5 victory in a tight match.

Both matches played in glorious weather - long may it continue!

Next Saturday, 17th May, Ethan & I are hosting a social evening from 5-6.30pm which will involve some putting & some prosecco.  The event is open to lady members as well as lady guests.  Ethan has promised to organise some challenges.  The weather is set fair and hopefully we can have a good turn out.

Sunday 6th April the club Captains had a beautiful morning for their Drive In.

Alan McIntyre and Pauleen MacEwan both had excellent drives up the fairway, to the delight of the supporting crowd at the 1st tee.  The Captains Quaich competition then followed whch was won by Alastair Frood with 40 points.

Dear Ladies, a big thank you to everyone who managed to attend the AGM last Saturday after that wild storm. Just to let you know that the minutes of the AGM will be available soon, and the summer knock out sign up sheets are now on the notice board in the ladies locker room.  At the AGM I started a campaign to install a toilet on the course and pledged a £1000 towards the £12000 required. I am delighted that we already have three more pledges and hope that more will come. Please sign the sheet in the ladies locker room if you wish to help and if you wish your name or the amount to remain anonymous please contact myself or Jim Park, House and Buildings Director. AGM 2025

 The Ladies Section AGM was held on Saturday 25th January.  There was a good turn out to support our outgoing Captain Kate Scott and to welcome the incoming Captain Pauline MacEwan.  Fortunately storm Eowyn had blown itself out, but left a trail of destruction on the course and the next weather problem was SNOW!!
