WINTER GREENSOMES RESULTS
Thank you for everyone's patience yesterday when we tried to run our Greensomes competition on VMS.
Unfortunately there was a problem with VMS calculating all the handicap allowances correctly. It worked for the majority but 4 were wrong. This is obviously more worrying than if they had all been wrong as there seems to be no obvious reason for it and I have been unable to get it to correct the calculations despite a long time trying.
The corrected final results are below. The VMS App still does not show the correct points for all, but the winners positions are not affected.
1) Vivien Howe & Gillian Donaghy (23) 43pts
2) Marion Munro & Sheila Swinnerton (21) 41pts
3) Mary Craig & Helen Abram (19) 38pts
4) Nancy MacGadie & Pamela MacKenzie (18) 37pts
5) Denise Cowan & Louise Cooper (11) 37pts
6) Karen Binning & Karin MacKenzie (22) 36 pts
7) Jan Macnab & Sheila Biggart (11) 35pts
8) Alison Templeton & Morag Cunningham (31) 31pts
9) Maureen Cook & Chris Minto (24) 31pts
10) Rosemary Reedie & Evelyn McDermid (27) 31pts
11) Rosemary Ogilvie & Vicky Rennie (27) 30pts
12) Anne Judge & Pat Pennel (18) 30pts

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN
8.30am on a Sunday morning in January seems very early, but, this was the meeting time for the 2022 Captains drive in.
Morag Cunningham was joined on the 1st tee by Club Captain Steven Scott and Junior Captain Ramsay McLeod. It was dry with very little wind and the 3 drove up the fairway watched by a fair few friends, despite the early start. The drive in was followed by the teams playing for the Captain's Quaich.

GOLF FORMATS FOR FUN BOUNCE GAMES
Hello Ladies
Denise Cowan has kindly forwarded information on some fun formats for golf games.
Hope you have fun trying them next time you play!
Morag Cunningham
WENTWORTH
This is match play competition with a team of one player taking on a team of the other two. To make it fair, the singleton team changes ever six holes. The team with two in it, their better ball counts as their score. A point is given to each golfer on the winning side on a hole, and whoever has the most points after 18 holes is the winner.
BARRACUDA
Another match play version, but in this one everyone plays on their own. Six points are awarded for each hole. If there is an outright winner and an outright second place then it is 4pts to the winner and 2pts to the second place. If two people tie for first it is 3pts each to them. If two people tie for second they get a point. If everyone ties the hole they get 2pts each.
THREESOMES
One player plays his ball throughout, and takes on the other two who are a team playing greensomes.
ON THE PERCH
This takes the idea from squash where only the person who is serving can score a point. On the Perch, also known sometimes as In The Chair or Chairman, is a format whereby only the person On The Perch can score a point.
The game starts with the perch being empty. The first player to win a hole outright then goes on the perch. If that person then wins the next hole outright, they score a point; if someone else wins that hole outright then they go on the perch. If the player on the perch halves the hole, he or she remains on the perch. If the other two players halve the hole the player is knocked off the perch and the perch becomes empty.
SKINS
This format can be played by three balls or four balls. Each hole is worth a skin – the term coming from the idea that there is a bag of money in a leather bag as the prize. The players decide in advance what each hole is worth in terms of a skin – sometimes all 18 have the same value, sometimes the later holes are worth more. If a player wins the hole outright he wins the skin. If no-one wins, then that skin is added to the skin for the next hole, and whoever win that hole then wins two skins. If there is no outright winner on that hole, the next becomes worth three skins and so on.
CAPTAINS DRIVE IN - SUNDAY 9th JANUARY 2022
Hello Ladies
The drive-in of the new captains will take place at 10.30am on Sunday 9th January.
Hopefully, the weather will be benign so that some of you may be inclined to come to the 1st tee to cheer off the 2022 captains.
There is an associated mixed competition for the Captains Quaich. Winner will be presented with the quaich by Stevie Scott, the 2022 Club Captain.
The format will be mixed individual stableford. Entries can be made now on the SG app. Tee times have been reserved from 10.30-11.30am. A random draw will be done - games can include a mix of gents, ladies and juniors.
Due to the current Covid situation, there is no associated catering for those playing.
For those who wish it, coffee/lunch will be available as usual in the clubhouse.
Please support this event if you can.
Thanks! Happy New Year and Happy Golfing in 2022 to you all.
Morag Cunningham
